This Privacy Policy explains what information robododd.com (“RoboDodd”, “we”, “us”) collects when you visit the site, how it is used, and the choices you have.

The short version: we run our own privacy-friendly analytics, the site does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share your personal information.

What we collect

Website analytics

We use Omega Analytics, a lightweight analytics tool that we host ourselves at omega.robododd.com. Analytics data is not sent to Google, Microsoft, or any other third-party analytics or advertising company.

Omega runs in cookieless mode: it does not set cookies and does not store anything in your browser. When a page loads, it records:

  • The page address and title, the page you arrived from (the referrer), and any campaign tags in the link (for example utm_source)
  • Your browser, operating system, and device type, screen size, language, and time zone
  • How long the page was open and visible
  • A few basic browser checks used to filter out bots, such as whether the browser reports a window size and whether any scrolling, clicking, or typing happened on the page (never what you typed)

Your IP address is used only while the request is being handled, for three things: to look up your country, to look up the network it belongs to (so traffic from cloud data centres can be flagged as likely bots), and to create an anonymous visitor ID. That ID is a one-way hash of your IP address, your browser’s user agent, and a random value that is replaced every day at midnight UTC. The old value is deleted, so visits cannot be linked across days or traced back to your IP address. Your IP address itself is not stored.

We use this information only to understand which articles and tools people read and how they find the site.

Hosting and security

The site is served from Microsoft Azure and delivered through Cloudflare. Like any web host, these providers process your IP address and standard request details (browser, requested URL, time) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies (such as __cf_bm) when it needs to check that a visitor is not an automated bot. Their processing is covered by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Information stored in your browser

If you choose light or dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device.

The developer tools run entirely in your browser. Anything you paste into them is processed on your device and is not sent to us.

Information you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply to you.

Cookies

RoboDodd does not set cookies, and we do not use advertising, analytics, or social media tracking cookies. The only exceptions are the Cloudflare security cookies described above, which are strictly necessary to protect the site. Because of this, the site does not show a cookie consent banner.

Some posts contain affiliate links to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. If you click one of these links, you leave RoboDodd and Amazon may set its own cookies to credit the referral. That is governed by Amazon’s Privacy Notice. We receive only aggregate sales reports from Amazon, never your name or any other personal information.

Posts link to many other websites. We have no control over and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so we encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

How long we keep data

Analytics records are kept for as long as they are useful for comparing traffic over time. They contain no IP addresses, names, or contact details. Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle your message.

Sharing your information

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the security of the site and its visitors.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to how it is used. Because analytics records cannot be linked back to an individual, we generally cannot identify which records relate to you. For anything else, such as an email you sent us, contact us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.

Children’s privacy

RoboDodd is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date at the top.
